With the summer vacation over, we were still 200 nautical miles away from home. Ending the vacation with an excruciating back pain wasn’t any fun but we were looking forward to another month of cruising in the Archipelago Sea and working remotely.
We had made some preparations for this, buying a new 4G router and a make-shift extra antenna. Our connections worked very well and we had less problems with videoconferencing than our colleagues at the office. Ten years ago when Jaana was about to bring a work laptop on board, I threatened it with an “accident” in the middle of the sea. Now I’m building an ergonomic and connected office on my boat. Times they are a changing…
During this time we also had some time to catch up with my daughter and her lovely little dog. The month went by quickly, but when we decided to head home, it actually became a bit stressful. The sun kept setting earlier each day, and we actually had to keep moving every evening after work. Even though the evening sailing was great, the element of having a timetable again, isn’t suited for the cruising lifestyle we had adopted.
All in all we had a fabulous summer of sailing and already started dreaming about the next summer.
