End of season 2022

Everything good must come to an end. Thos season was a good one. Great sailing, lots of new places and beautiful anchorages. Absolutely wonderful remote work. It’s still sad when you lift your boat of of her element.

They say there are two kinds of sailors: those that have run aground and those that are going to. We came off lightly this year. While we were hurrying to the doctor for my back pain, I was steering. The pain was really bad and I wasn’t in the best shape to navigate. So in the narrow, shallow channel leading to port, I took the wrong side of one lateral mark. At five knots, it could have been a very abrupt stop. Luck was on my side, and we only bumped really hard. The bottom was definitely not mud or sand. The keel got a hit, but on inspection, we had no leaks. And the skipper made it to the doctor.

After the traditional end of season ceremonies at the sailing club, it was time for the dreary maintenance chores. Only six months to the start of the following season.
