Captains Log 8.6.2024 Leaving home port
We had a plan. Work onboard during the day and sail in the evenings, making our way westwards. Take our vacation and then make our way back home in a similar manner. Our start had been delayed a couple of weeks due to family graduation parties. First we had headed up to Iisalmi for Jaanas godson finishing high school and the following weekend I jetted off to Trondheim, Norway to see my own son receiving his master’s diploma.
We had planned properly, the provisioning had been done and on Saturday June 8th, when I hopped off the plane in Helsinki, we had a quick turnaround at home. Suit in closet, sailing gear on and off to the boat.

Some of the crew members didn’t look as excited as we were, but you can’t please everyone.
Heading off towards Helsinki, the sky didn’t look overly inviting. We were being chased by rain, but looking backwards, we saw one of the most perfect rainbows that we’ve ever encountered. We had a goal, and decided not to go chasing the gold pots that can allegedly be found at the ends.

We were off, and hoped to be sailing for the following three months. Our hearts were filled with expectations and the feeling of serene peace, even though would be remote working.
