After a couple of security checks we were through to the inner courtyard of this magnificent palace. It must have been quite wonderful to live here, either as the sultan or one of his highest officials. Slaving away in the kitchens, gardens or elsewhere probably wasn’t any more fun than sitting with your computer in a 3′ x 3′ cubicle. Imagine having your own audience hall where you could receive business acquaintances….
Walking around the palace obviously made us a little bit hungry, so we took a quick break at the Konyali restaurant. Some çay and pastries and a small taste of Turkish ghoulash. Nothing special to justify the double price compared to restaurants just outside the walls. So, eat before you come here.
