I don’t drink coffee. By the time Turned 45, I had consumed a total of five cups and I haven’t been impressed. But, during the past year or so I’ve been thinking about expanding my culinary habits. The regular coffee we find in Finland doesn’t make the cut, but I’ve been reading about Arabian and Turkish habits and tastes.
The making of flavoured Arabian coffee and drinking it from small cups sounds like an interesting experience, but it will have to wait for a while. Nespresso has been running quite funny ads starring George Clooney, and maybe that’s why I decided to try some espresso while on holiday in Cape Verde. The experience wasn’t that bad at all.
We’ve been thinking about getting a coffee machine, and todays’ Xmas shopping finally brought us our new toy, a Nespresso DeLonghi Lattissima Black coffee machine. It was a close contest with Nescafé Dolce Gusto which has a lot of ready made flavoured hot and cold beverages. Today, however, Nespresso had a young lady making coffee and presenting the machines. She really had to work for this sale, since even though she had a great offer on the machine, it was still twice the price, and that’s a lot for a person who doesn’t drink coffee.
Strangely enough, I didn’t have my iPad stuck to my hand, so this purchase was done rather blind. Coming home, I immediately registered the product to take advantage of the 50€ extra bonus. And I had to check out all kinds of great coffee recipes. And the Nespresso girl was right. With this machine I can make a lot of different coffees, using great coffee and real milk and sugar of my choice (skimmed, lactose free etc.) instead of stuff like milk powder, soy lecithin, artificial flavour and what ever.
And of course we had to test it. Christmas is just around the corner, and my first try was a successful gingerbread coffee. Lovely!
A whole new area of culinary delights is about to unfold for us.
