Palazzo Reale di Napoli

Royal Palace, that’s nice. I mean, every royal needs at least three or four palaces. With wild extravagant decorations on the walls, ceilings and floors. Obviously, you need matching furniture and chandeliers.

That’s quite normal in small palaces like this. What I found quite interesting in this building, was that there were no visible fireplaces or any kind of radiators. No heating. Maybe they used the old way that the Pompeiians and Romans used, warm air circulating underneath the floors. More likely, there was enough staff to run around with hot water bottles. Then again, we were here on a pretty cold day in December and it was not cold indoors. Luxurious. Not that I’m jealous, why don’t I move south myself?
